Today, Nov. 3, is the birthday of Brooklyn-born rapper Kirk Jones, better known to the music world as Sticky Fingaz.

Fingaz was a founding member of the hip-hop group Onyx back in 1988. Together with Fredro Starr, Sonny Seeza and partially Big DS, Onyx dropped eight studio albums showcasing their hardcore, Jamaica, Queens sound and Fingaz' outstandingly funny and gritty lyrical style. Moving into a solo career, Fingaz dropped his debut album,  Black Trash: The Autobiography of Kirk Jones, in 2001 followed by Decade "...but wait it gets worse" in 2003. Fingaz also got into the acting world in the early 2000’s appearing in minor roles in films and TV shows. You may recognize him as Tyrone in Next Friday or gang leader Kern Little form the FX series The Shield.

To date, Fingaz still acts, collaborates with his Onyx MCs and is said to be working on his third solo project, Sticky Fingaz: The Album.

Happy Birthday, Sticky Fingaz!
