Happy Birthday, Pete Rock!

Today, June 21, is the birthday of Bronx born DJ, producer and rapper Pete Rock. The Bronx producer/rapper is now 48.

Pete Rock is best known for rising to prominence in the early 1990s as a part of the duo Pete Rock and CL Smooth. Rock and Smooth joined forces to be one of the most formidable rapper/producer duos and over the years, Rock gained a reputation as a turntable master. Even when Rock and Smooth went their separate ways in 1995, Pete Rock built up his rolodex enough to go solo and release three full-length albums of his own. Spinning for Hot 97, producing for the likes of Run-D.M.C., Nas and Public Enemy, Pete Rock has stood the test of time as one of rap's go-to producers.

But Rock isn't resting on his laurels. After getting in the studio with Smoke DZA and going on tour with Slum Village, Pete Rock reunited with CL Smooth for a West Coast tour that summer. In the fall of 2017, the two hit the road once again for a European tour.
