Freddie Gibbs and Logic Bury the Hatchet
After a misunderstanding that led to Freddie Gibbs calling Logic out and accusing him of swagger jacking his album cover idea, the two MCs have apparently buried the hatchet.
As previously reported, Gangsta Gibbs definitely felt some type of way after seeing Lo's Everybody album cover, which is very similar in concept to the Gary rapper's own You Only Live 2wice cover art. Both covers clearly draw inspiration from old European paintings, and Gibbs felt it was a shark move on Logic's part.
“Dear @logic301 I hope you purchase my album on Friday due to the fact that you just blatantly jocked my shit," he wrote in a caption on Instagram. "Blessings. #ESGN #YOL2 3/31.”
But it appears the two MCs have talked it over and all is good. The "Alexys" rapper recently posted a screenshot from a FaceTime conversation he had with Logic, along with the caption, "I guess we both like fine art 💯@logic301 #YOL2 #ESGN." Both artists are smiling from ear to ear in the picture.
Gibbs probably found out that New York artist Sam Spratt, who is responsible for designing the Everybody cover, had actually been working on the artwork before the ESGN MC got out of jail last year. So even though the designs might have a similar feel, there was no intent on swiping styles.
It's good to see that rappers can talk things over without taking things to the next level.
