Freddie Gibbs was arrested on Thursday (June 2) in France.

According to La Depeche, the Gary, Ind. rapper was taken into custody prior to a concert in Toulouse on charges relating to an alleged rape case from back in 2015. However, Gibbs and his legal team are already denying any involvement in the crime.

The 33-year-old MC had a hearing yesterday (June 3), with authorities deciding to extradite the rapper to Austria for further questioning about his involvement in the alleged incident.

Gibb's lawyer Scott Leemon has put out a statement claiming that his client is innocent and questioning the Austrian authorities' motives.

"Freddie Gibbs adamantly denies the allegations that have been levied against by Austrian authorities," the statement reads. "It makes you wonder why it took a year for Austrian officials to bring these charges. Freddie will be fighting the extradition request as these are nothing more than trumped up charges."

Leemon already has his hands full as he is also currently representing Troy Ave. The Brooklyn rapper has been charged with attempted murder and weapons charges in relation to the now infamous Irving Plaza shooting the left one dead and four others injured including the BSB boss who took a bullet to the leg.

Gibbs recently announced he and Madlib are working on a new album titled Bandana. The project will be the follow up to their 2014 collab Pinata.

The rapper's most recent release was Shadow of a Doubt came out in November 2015 and peaked at No. 8 on Billboard's U.S. rap chart.
