Fashawn Pays Homage to Black Icons in “Proud” Video

Fashawn is seeing high success in the music game, but he's not shy about remembering those who paved the way for him and others. The Mass Appeal signee releases the music video for "Proud," which features Fashawn paying homage to tons of Black icons that range from activists to political leaders, as well as entertainers from over the years.

In the Hectah Arias-directed video, the California rapper sports a black fedora with some matching shades and shirt while rapping about Black history and those who were important to shaping the nation over the past centuries.

Mentioning important legends such as Angela Davis, Dr. Carter G. Woodson, Muhammad Ali and more throughout the visuals, the Boy Meets World MC brings us up to speed on present time at the end of the video, featuring photos of Eddie Murphy, Issa Rae, Alicia Keys and many more modern entertainers.

"Proud" comes straight off of Fashawn's recently released Manna EP from August, which he teased over the past few months with multiple releases, including a self-titled track. A majority of the project dives into social injustice issues in the country, including race relations, police brutality and activism.
