"You gotta beat Surf 1st b4 you get to me" -Drake #NOME5 @champagnepapi

Either Drake is just flexing, or he is really working hard on his battle raps behind the scenes. Last night, Drizzy was in attendance at Smack/URL’s Night of Main Events 5. And once again he taunted Murda Mook about the two getting it on. The Young Money rapper was chilling on the stage prior to the event when Smack put him on the spot asking if he was really willing to go toe to toe with Mook. “You gotta beat [Tsu] Surf first,” said Aubrey confidently. Drake was referring to the New Jersey battle vet who Mook is rumored to be battling next.

Word of a potential battle between the "6 God" and the god of battle rap popped off last August when Mook claims Drizzy issued the challenge. Posting a picture of the rappers talking on his Instagram account, the Harlem spitta captioned the photo. “So this is @champagnepapi telling me he wants to battle me. And he is actually serious!,” he wrote. “Who got the check?” He later tweeted out, “All we gotta do is find the sponsor!.”

Hype surrounding the possible battle eventually died down. In a recent interview on AngryFansRadio, Mook revealed the battle was actually close to happening. He claims the Toronto rap star approached him about battling on very short notice but he was unprepared and hesitant. In the end, he says he was still about to battle Graham, but the Cash Money rapper's management pulled the plug at the last minute. That might have been a smart decision. Do you think Drake really wants to step in that ring with arguably the best battle rapper in the sport? He sure sounds like he does.
