Danny Brown has had his share of, ahem, adventures while out on the road this year, but he's also been hard at work on his next album, titled Old. In an interview excerpt over at Clash, the 2012 XXL freshman explained the meaning behind the album title—as well as the simple explanation for his lauded 2011 collection XXX—and says that the long-awaited followup is ready but for some final mixing, and set "for sure" for an August release.

Early indications pointed to the album being titled ODB—seemingly a reference to Wu-Tang's Ol' Dirty Bastard—so when the official confirmation came that it'd be called Old, the association stuck around. Yet Brown has a different interpretation. "With Old you think I'm talking about my age, or where I'm at in my career. But it really [refers to] when I'm experimenting... And then when I go back to my 'hood, I have my people who be like, 'Where that 'Old' Danny Brown shit at? I wanna hear that J. Dilla Danny Brown.' So I [titled the] album for them."

The oft-explicit rapper also cleared up the interpretations of XXX, which most people assumed was a reference to his slightly-more-than-occasional vulgarities, but in reality belied something much more innocent. "When I put out XXX, people thought I was talking about being perverted, but that meant [my age] 30."
