Childish Gambino is getting back into acting with a new show he has developed for the FX network titled Atlanta, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The network has given the green-light for a pilot of the show which has been in development by the rapper, born, Donald Glover, since 2013. The story for the half-hour comedy series will center around two cousins with vastly different lifestyles who are trying to make it in the thriving Atlanta rap scene. Gam will portray the role of Earnest "Earn" Marks, an underachiever who tries his hand at rapping. Glover will also executive produce the project working alongside Paul Simms and Dianne McGunigle of the Schiff Company.

"Donald Glover is a uniquely talented actor and performer who brings real-life experience to this subject matter," said FX Networks and FX Productions president of original programming Nick Grad. The "3005" rapper made a name for himself in the acting world on the show Community where he played the role of Troy Barnes for five seasons. Back in October, it was announced he would take on a role in the next Ridley Scott film, Martian.
