Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s Last Album Will Be Called ‘E.1999 Legends’

Last year, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's Krayzie Bone gathered together the rest of the members of the group to plan their 20th anniversary reunion album. Yesterday (July 15), it was announced that the group would follow in the footsteps of Wu-Tang's Once Upon A Time In Shaolin and sell just one copy of their anniversary album for $1 million. The album will be auctioned off in 2015 to the highest bidder, with bidding starting at a million. XXL recently caught up with Krayzie Bone—who started Krayzie Bone Media to develop and brand artists—shared the name of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's last album, E.1999 Legends..

"We heard what Wu-Tang was doing," said Krayzie Bone. "I contemplated it for a while. I thought there’s not many groups like us and Wu-tang that can actually do something like this and pull it off. It's a good way of branding and marketing this next project, being that this is our last group project. We wanted to do something different and make everybody aware of what we were doing."

Krayzie approached the group about a reunion album in the middle of last year, and they began recording E.1999 Legends at the end of last year. According to Krayzie Bone, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony has "probably recorded up to 75-100 songs [so far]." The album will be a double-disc project. The first disc will be only Bone Thugs-N-Harmony records with no features and will be about 18-20 songs. The second disc will be feature a lot of big-name guest appearances such as Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, A$AP Mob and Kendrick Lamar. They are still reaching out to other big names like Mary J. Blige. DJ U-Neek—longtime producer for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony—is producing E.1999 Legends along with Dr. Dre, who has some beats on the album.

Along with dropping E.1999 Legends, all five members will be going on a world tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

The auction process is still a bit of a mystery. Fans with that kind of money are welcome to purchase the album, but Krayzie is also open to the idea of a major label or tech giant like Apple picking it up at auction and distributing it to fans. Members of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony will share via social media where the bidding will be within the next couple of days. However, the question is what made Bone Thugs-N-Harmony think that this idea was plausible? "We looked at the bidding war for Wu-Tang," said Krayzie. "We have have fans all over the world. I’m quite sure the person that buys the album is not just buying because they are a fan. They understand what we are doing, and they just want to be a part of it. We’re doing this non-traditionally because the old traditional way is played out. We have millions of fans worldwide. I'm quite sure this will go over very well."

A nice surprise was that LeBron James is involved with E.1999 Legends. "You know that we going to have LeBron involved," said Krayzie. "We was kicking it in Miami, and he said, 'I just want to let y'all know, I represent Bone Thugs-N-Harmony all over the world, everywhere I go.'" Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and LeBron are planning out a project together to keep some of Ohio's talent, whether sports, academics, etc., in Ohio. Krayzie stresses that there is a ton of talent that comes from Ohio but feels the pressure to leave the state to be successful. With LeBron back in Cleveland, the two parties are looking to change that.
