1WayFrank Apprehended for Theft Charges After Being a Fugitive for Seven Months

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. rapper 1WayFrank's time on the run has come to an end in Indiana.

On Wednesday (Oct. 23), Indiana's Richmond Palladium Item confirmed that Frank, born Selassie Irie Ward, was apprehended after evading authorities for seven months. He is facing 14 theft-related charges in connection with vehicle break-ins that happened in Indiana's Union County earlier this year. The Union County Sheriff's Office first revealed the news in a Facebook post.

"The Union County Sheriff's Office is happy to announce that Selassi Ward otherwise known as '1 Way Frank' has been apprehended and is awaiting extradition," they wrote in a Tuesday Facebook post. "Selassie fled on foot when officers had a vehicle stopped for questioning involving a string of thefts, which occurred in Union County."

XXL has reached out to Union County Sheriff's Office for information regarding the apprehension of Frank. While they can confirm the apprehension on a warrant, they are unable to confirm that Frank has been arrested.

Police reportedly found Frank and another man breaking into vehicles at a Union County park in March and attempted to apprehend them both. The other man, Gregory J. Greene, also of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., was taken into custody, but Frank managed to flee. An arrest warrant was then issued. Frank's bond is set at $75,000.

Frank is facing a Level 5 felony battery causing injury to a public safety officer, two Level 6 felony counts of theft and 11 misdemeanors. Four of the misdemeanors are for unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, three are for theft, another three are for criminal mischief and another one for resisting law enforcement. Greene was hit with similar charges and after reaching a plea deal, was sentenced to 1,000 days behind bars, which equals roughly two years and eight months.

A Level 5 felony charge carries a standard three-year prison sentence with a range of one-to-six years. A Level 6 felony carries a standard one-year sentence, with a range of one to two-and-a-half years.

1WayFrank is best known for his Sunland Stunna and N***a From Lauderdale mixtapes. He was featured in XXL's The Break in June of 2018.
