YFN Lucci Draws His Forthcoming ‘Wish Me Well 3′ Mixtape
An immense amount of rap music was released in 2018, and while a lot of artists kept the content flowing, YFN Lucci was among some of the most consistent rappers dropping new releases. Not surprisingly, that was just the beginning for the Summerhill, Atlanta native.
Lucci kicked off 2018 with Freda's Son and his debut album, Ray Ray from Summerhill. His followup EP, See No Evil, was well-received, as was his joint mixtape, LucciVandross, with Yung Bleu. Surprise offerings 3 and 3: The Sequel serve as a prequel to Lucci's forthcoming Wish Me Well 3 mixtape, which is due out in the coming months.
During a visit to New York City, the man behind "I Think I Lost It" pulled out his leather cap and transformed into a visual artist to draw the songs and concept for his forthcoming Wish Me Well 3 project for XXL's Masterpiece series. First, YFN Lucci speaks on the first 3 EP, released back in November of 2018. The three-song project includes "Hit 'Em Up" and the Blac Youngsta-assisted "Do That," which combined have over 400,000 streams on SoundCloud.
To represent 3 in his painting, Lucci drew an AK-47 with yellow (to symbolize gold) bullets and the bottom half of a voluptuous dancer. “Atlanta is the city of FreakNik, you know, nightlife. A lot of fun,” he explains. “I got a booty and some money because we like to party.”
The number three is one YFN Lucci holds near and dear—hailing from Zone 3 in Atlanta, it makes sense. To show love to his hometown and supporters (including girlfriend Reginae Carter), the "Live That Life" rapper painted a huge red heart and his crews' names, YFN and TIG.
“I drew the heart because I got love for my family, friends and my girl," he begins. ”We show a lil love, you feel me? We ain’t tryna hurt nobody."
Whilst taking his artistic skills to the next level, Lucci lists some new songs that are set to appear on Wish Me Well 3. Along with "Never Change," "Love Me or Hate Me" and "No Ceilings," he also has a track named "Plug Got Me" featuring Rick Ross.
Aside from WMW3, YFN Lucci is currently working on a new project with collaborator Mozzy. A couple weeks back, Mozzy's manager David “Dave-O” Grear sent a message out to producers urging them to send in some last-minute beats. According to him, the collection is near completion.
In the meantime, catch up with Ray Ray and learn more about his inspirations for Wish Me Well 3 above.
