XXXTentacion’s A Helping Hand Charity Event to Go on as Planned in Florida
Before his untimely death on Monday (June 18), XXXTentacion seemed like he was on a mission to turn his life around and do good by his South Florida community. Sadly, the "Look at Me" rapper will not get a chance to see his efforts through, but his good intentions will live on. The A Helping Hand charity event the rapper was planning the day he died will officially go on as planned on Sunday (June 24).
XXXTentacion's mother, Cleopatra Bernard, confirmed the event would still take place following her son's death earlier this week. She announced the news on Twitter June 20, two days after his murder. "Charity event is still happening this Sunday in Florida. this was Jahseh's final wish. More details soon. Posted on behalf of his mother for any wondering," she tweeted on the rapper's Twitter account.
Now a flyer for the event has been circulating and shows the location as 1775 NW 60th St, Miami, Fla. 33127. Described as "A Miami Hashtaglunchbag and Memorial in Honor of XXXTentacion," the lunch bag distribution will start at 2:30 p.m. EST and feature DJ Scheme on the ones and twos.
XXX kicked off his A Helping Hand initiative earlier this year, in the form of a benefit concert where some proceeds went to victims of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Fla., a school not far from where X lived. In May, he announced plans to officially launch the A Helping Hand Foundation with the help of his mother. "I'm working on solidifying the helping hand foundation," X wrote on social media. "Once it's done, we will take submissions from all over the world of people in need! and see what the community needs most and how we can assist!"
On the day X died, the "Sad!" artist shared an image on his Instagram story with the statement that he would be doing a charity event in his home state this weekend. "Planning a charity event for this weekend Florida!" he wrote two hours before he was murdered in Deerfield Beach, Fla. outside of a motorcycle dealership. Ski Mask The Slump God, his longtime friend and vrother, announced his wishes to take over the foundation in the wake of X's death. "The charity event he was planning I'd like to take over and also make it a day of remembrance," he wrote via his Instagram story on Wednesday.
In other X-related news, his family has announced plans for his final public memorial, which will take place next week.
