XXXTentacion Murder Suspect Granted $15,000 for Forensics Expert for Trial
One of the men charged with the murder of XXXTentacion has just been cleared to hire a $15,000 forensics expert ahead of his upcoming trial.
In a motion filed Feb. 8, a circuit court judge in Florida's Broward County granted Dedrick D. Williams' request to hire his own forensics expert in order to help prepare his defense.
Last month, Williams' lawyer claimed that Williams, who faces charges of first-degree murder and grand theft in X's killing, wanted to use a forensics expert in order to receive a fair trial.
"THIS CAUSE having been heard by the Court upon the Defendant's Motion to incur costs to contract with Crime Scene / Forensics Expert Witness for the defense, and the court having been fully advised in the premises, it is hereby ORDERED AND ADJUDGED that the Defendant's motion to incur costs to contract with Crime Scene / Forensics Expert Witness for the Defense is hereby granted," states one part of the document.
For his case, Williams is enlisting the help of experts at J.D. Thomas of Forensic Consultant Services, LLC. The fee for Thomas' services is $150 per hour. Williams has been capped at 100 hours for the use of Thomas' services.
Williams is one of four men arrested for the murder of 2017 XXL Freshman XXXTentacion. Police allege that Williams drove the SUV that impeded X's path out of the parking lot at RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Fla. The other three men who were arrested are Robert Allen, Trayvon Newsome and Michael Boatwright. Newsome and Boatwright are suspected of being the gunmen who approached X while he was inside his vehicle. Boatwright is believed to be the man who fired the fatal shots killing X.
