Back in March, a leaked video showing XXXTentacion striking a woman in the face was shared on Reddit. The woman, Breonna Starling, spoke out once the video made its rounds on the internet, saying she feared for her life after the incident with X. In response, X filed a lawsuit for defamation and fraud against her, but TMZ is now reporting the "Sad" artist has decided to dismiss the suit against Starling after she took back her statements.

The report goes on to state that X wanted to halt legal action because Starling recanted her original account of the night's events. At the time, she wrote a statement on Instagram to address the release of the video. "For those who are questioning why I didn’t come forth earlier was because I was terrified for my life...," she wrote. "Imagine someone doing that to you unprovoked? At 16? Let alone the people he associates himself w/? Truth of the matter is I would still be holding onto this secret if it wasn’t leaked."

Her updated legal statement claims the pair of friends were just joking around at the time. "The video was taken years ago when [XXXTentacion] and I were both kids and we were just joking around. I was not injured as a result of what happened nor did it negatively affect my personal life," Starling wrote to X's representatives. Though this case is seemingly over for X, he is still awaiting trial for alleged domestic violence and witness tampering in connection to an alleged assault of his ex-girlfriend.

As a result of that ongoing case, the artist's music catalog was controversially removed from all Spotify playlists last week as part of the streaming service's new hateful conduct policy.
