Today In Hip-Hop: Redman Releases “Let’s Get Dirty”
On this day, May 1, in hip-hop history...
2001: Redman releases the single "Let's Get Dirty (I Can't Get in da Club)" off his 2001 album Malpractice. Produced by longtime collaborator Rockwilder and featuring DJ Kool, the track was the first single of his fifth album with Def Jam. The track marked a sonic deviation for the NJ rapper's style, as it featured a beat composed primarily of synths instead of samples. Singer Christina Augilera later recreated Redman's song on her 2002 single "Dirrty." A remix of the track featuring the Gorillaz was also released.
