And: "Like Me"
Name: Jake Miller
Age: 20
Hometown: Miami, FL
I grew up listening to: Everything from Eminem to Lil Wayne to John Mayer to The Beatles.
Most people don't know I: Had a full ride scholarship to Florida State University but decided to pursue my dreams in music instead of going to school, only weeks before I was supposed to start as a freshman.
My style has been compared to: Asher Roth, Macklemore, Travie McCoy, etc
My standout records and moments to date have been: The record that has done the most for my career is "A Million Lives", a heartfelt track that was inspired by real fan mail I received. My standout moment to date has been signing my my first record deal with eOne Music in NYC. We finally negotiated the PERFECT deal with the best independent label in the world.
My goal in Hip-Hop is: To inspire others to live their dream, no matter how many people tell them they won't make it. In high school, I was the kid who was laughed at for trying to do something so out of the ordinary. But I followed my dreams and achieved what people told me I couldn't. If I can do something I love while simultaneously inspiring others, then I will feel like I succeeded.
I'm gonna be the next: Sounds cliche, but I'm not going to be the next anything, I'm going to be the first Jake Miller.
