Name: GoldLink

Age: 20

Hometown: I’m from the DMV. I grew up in Maryland my whole life and I was born in Washington D.C. I moved to VA so I’m in VA now.

I grew up listening to: Pure Hip-hop, so I listened to Cam’ron, Max B, a lot of Hot Boys, a lot of Master P, Silkk The Shocker and a lot of Mystical. A lot of that shit. Beck's “Hell Yes” was the most game changing video ever. Like that shit was my life. That and 50 Cent’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin' is the best album. And Pharrell's “Frontin.”

Most people don't know I: Niggas never seen my face and I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, I don’t do any drugs.

My style's been compared to: I think it’s compared to like the Beach Boys mixed with R. Kelly from The Chocolate Factory album mixed with Beethoven Symphony shit mixed with Ke$ha meets Kim, the R&B singer.

My standout records and/or moments to date have been: Standout record I’ll probably say is “Playa” because the beat is really hood, like it’s so left field and un-rappable and for me to rap it and do the things that I did on it was actually really prolific for me. And then me having out of five songs on my SoundCloud and three of them reaching 100,000 views is a pinnacle to me. It’s the first time I feel like I accomplish something.

My goal in Hip-Hop is: I don’t have a hip-hop goal but I want to headline Bonnaroo one day.

I'm gonna be the next: Prince because I’m the faceless sex symbol. I’m real sexy and I make sexy music so I’m going to be Prince meets Nelson Mandela.
