King Louie has dropped his latest project, Soprano, to hold his fans over in anticipation for his Drilluminati 3 mixtape. The 7-track EP provides a good platform for King Louie to show off his versatility, something that separates him from some of his Chicago rap cohorts. Soprano contains no traditional drill songs, though some drill elements in production remain in a few tracks; triplet hi-hats, 808 kicks, etc.

On this project, Louie opts to go with more of a classic hip-hop and R&B sound. Tracks such as "Sexin," show that Louie can do more than rap about guns and trappin', taking on the ballad style joint with relative ease. "Real Rap Raw" sounds like a track the mid-2000 Drought 3 era Lil Wayne would spit on, and Louie does his thing on the track. "When it's beef, I be with chefs/You can get cooked," says Louie on the bouncy track.

If this EP is any indication of what King Louie is cooking up for the future, we're in for a real treat. Stream Soprano below.
