Despite being fatally killed in a plane crash in 2001, the spirit of Aaliyah remains alive. Thanks to Lifetime, we will get to see the singer's life depicted on TV. According to Variety, singer-actress Zendaya will star as Aaliyah in the Lifetime Original movie, Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.

The film will be based on the best-seller Aaliyah: More Than A Woman written by former Time magazine Music Editor Christopher Farley.

Zendaya will record four of Aaliyah's songs for the film. The movie will be produced by Aaliyah Productions, Inc. with Howard Braunstein and Debra Martin Chase playing the roles of executive producers.

The movie will be filmed during the summer and is slated for a fall release.

VH1 was also said to be shooting a biopic for the late songbird.
