Lute Releases ‘West 1996 Pt. 2’ Project, New Video “Morning Shift”
After dropping the single "Premonition," Lute is back with his new project West 1996 Pt. 2. The new record is a follow-up to Lute's first solo mixtape, West 1996, which was released in 2012. Along with the record, the rapper also dropped a new video for the song "Morning Shift."
Described as contemporary throwback, the project is, according to Lute, an "accumulation of chapters and events" leading up to his signing with J. Cole's Dreamville record label. He added, "It’s a window into the last five years of my life… the obstacles, the challenges, the changes. It’s also motivation to not let people or circumstances define who you are. My only competition is the person I was yesterday. I've been patient and very appreciative of this platform and now its time to show what I'm capable of.”
A new project isn't the only big news for Lute fans. The rapper will be joining labelmates J.I.D and Earthgang on their upcoming Never Had Sh!t Tour. Kicking off on Nov. 2 in Toronto, the 15-date tour will take the rappers through Baltimore, Chicago, New York, Miami, Detroit and Washington, D.C. before wrapping up on Nov. 21 in Atlanta.
