Update (4:19 p.m. EST):

Things got personal between these two, with Southside posting a video on Instagram going in on Lex. Watch it below.

Original Story:

It's only been less than a month since Swizz Beatz's epic beat battle against Just Blaze, but it already looks like the next historic producer matchup is upon us. Recently, Lex Luger challenged fellow producer Southside to a beat battle for a prize of $50,000.

in the below IG video, Southside acknowledges the challenge and ups the stakes by increasing the reward for the victor. The new prize? $100,000. “So, I wake up. I got a DM from Lex Luger talking about a beat battle with me, Metro, and Sonny,” the "Trap Niggas" producer said in the video, clutching on a fat wad of cash.

He continued, “Lex, this is $50,000… until you got a whole 100 on you you can gamble with, bro, don’t hit me talking about no beat battle … put a whole hundred on the table and we can beat battle.”

Shortly after, Luger responded in a now-deleted Instagram vid, claiming that he'd battle pretty much any producer, including Luger, Metro Boomin and Sonny Digital. Of course, that only led to another response from Southside, who used his Twitter account to imply Luger isn't really getting big money for his beats.

"I tell u what tell a nigga get the hunnid grand and show it to me @SmokedOutLuger and not 6k and a 2003 bens and I'm on," Southside tweeted at DJ Akademiks, who helped spread the news about Southside's potential battle with Luger.

As of today, there's no set date for this beat battle, but it does seem like both super-producers want to make it happen. We'll have to wait and see.
