Today, June 5, is the birthday of DJ Mustard, a top notch West Coast producer who now turns 28.

Mustard, real name Dijon McFarlane, grew up in Los Angeles and started DJing at family parties at the age of 15. Coming up as a club DJ in California, Mustard rose to fame around 2010 as the official DJ for Compton rapper YG. Mustard created a lane for himself by working as both a public figure and behind the boards as a producer and has been instrumental in promoting the West Coast dance crazes like jerking.

In 2011, Mustard produced Tyga's hit single, "Rack City," which became certfied two times platinum by RIAA. From there, Mustard became a highly sought after producer, working with everyone from Nipsey Hu$$le, Kid Ink, Ty Dolla $ign and Dom Kennedy to Lil Jon, 2 Chainz, Tinashe and Trey Songz.

With a catalog of hits a mile long, you can't turn on the radio today without hearing an infectiously ratchet jam produced by Mustard. Anytime you hear "Mustard on the beat ho" on a song, you know you're in for a catchy hook with a danceable beat.

Mustard has also been getting into the EDM world by giving R&B and pop songs a juiced up remix. He formed a production duo with fellow soundsmith Nic Nac called MustardxMayo in 2016 and in the spring of 2017, he reunited with YG for the new summer banger "Pop It, Shake It." At the very end of 2017, Mustard teamed with RJMrLA to drop of a joint album by the name of The Ghetto.

Happy Birthday, DJ Mustard!
