Before the 2019 XXL Freshman Class will be revealed this summer, the Freshman hopefuls are here to show and prove why they deserve a spot in this year’s class. The 10th Spot voting will launch on March 25, which means hip-hop's rising newcomers are vying for a spot on the 2019 XXL Freshman cover.

Bobby Sessions is a firm believer in manifesting his own destiny. Equipped with sharp storytelling skills, the poet turned rapper set out in 2013 to make things happen in a major way for himself. His thought-provoking series of releases, which includes projects such as 2015’s LOA (Law Of Attraction) and 2017’s Grateful and singles like “Black America” soon garnered the approval of the likes of Killer Mike and Paul Rosenberg, who signed the young Dallas MC to Def Jam Records.

Unapologetic in his approach, Sessions dropped his politically charged major label debut, RVLTN (Chapter 1): The Divided States of AmeriKKKa, in 2018. The skilled lyricist, who toured with PRhyme, also helmed the title track for the critically acclaimed The Hate U Give soundtrack. Next up for the 20-something rapper is his headlining Everything’s For Sale tour, which is slated to touch down in major cities like Chicago, New York, Atlanta and of course Dallas.
