Before the 2019 XXL Freshman Class will be revealed this summer, the Freshman hopefuls are here to show and prove why they deserve a spot in this year’s class. The 10th Spot voting will launch on March 25, which means hip-hop's rising newcomers are vying for a spot on the 2019 XXL Freshman cover.

As a child in Mobile, Ala., Yung Bleu was a crafty kid on a school bus, recording his own music through his cell phone, using a tape recorder to play his beat of choice. That kind of desire at such a young age paid off as Bleu, now a 24-year-old Columbia Records signee, has huge songs under his belt.

"Miss It," his 2017 song about longing for a previous relationship, has been streamed or viewed more than 35 million times, quickly turning him into a hot commodity on the touring circuit. He didn't ease up in 2018, with "Unappreciated," "Ice On My Baby" and other tracks racking up millions of streams in their own right.

Bleu has two mixtape series going simultaneously; the edgier, more rap-attuned Investments tapes, and Bleu Vandross, where he fully leans into his R&B sensibilities. Yung Bleu is an equally viable rapper and singer who has found a way to connect in both worlds.

Now that you've heard his pitch, remember to vote for your favorite artist beginning March 25. The 2019 XXL Freshman 10th Spot will run for one week. This is where the public gets the chance to vote an artist into the XXL Freshman Class. Go here to make your vote count for your favorite artist.
