Wiz Khalifa has been in the news for all the right reasons this year. A standout mixtape and a string of sold out shows have solidified the 23-year-old as one of hip-hop’s rising stars. In the last few weeks, though, his name has popped up around incidents he’d like to avoid. First, his tour bus was raided and he was arrested on felony drug charges in North Carolina. Now, a member of his entourage has reportedly been robbed in New York City.

According to the New York Post, Julian Wimbush, 26, who does merchandising for Wiz, was robbed near Times Square by a man whom he followed into an undisclosed building at 5 a.m. He “wanted a girl,” according to the report, and was told to remove his jewelry and wallet once he arrived at the building, so that he could walk through a metal detector. Once Wimbush handed everything over to the man whom he was with, the robber ran off.

"Julian has been at some of the tour dates, but is not a regular part of the team," said president of Rostrum Records, Benjy Grinberg, according to the Post. "Julian was not a part of any of our activities and I can't account for where he was during the time we were working."

Initially, Wimbush told police that he was robbed by four armed men. Once brought to the police precinct, however, he reneged and told the current version of the events.

Wiz Khalifa and his team were in New York City this week following a sold out performance at the Best Buy Theater on Saturday night.

As previously reported WK will be broadcasting his concert tonight in Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club, on his website, wizkhalifa.com, via UStream. —Adam Fleischer
