Today in Hip-Hop: Ace Hood Drops ‘Trials & Tribulations’ Album
On this day, July 16, in hip-hop history...
2013: Ace Hood was already a well-known rising star when he dropped his fourth studio album, Trials & Tribulations, on July 16, 2013. But thanks to hit singles and ear-catching bars, the We The Best/Cash Money signee enjoyed stellar success unmatched in his career at that point. Fueled by the hard-hitting single "Bugatti" featuring Future and Rick Ross that peaked at number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100, the Florida rapper and 2009 XXL Freshman was suddenly everywhere.
The album as a whole debuted at number four on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. It sold 37,000 copies in the first week and received positive reviews from critics for its personal elements.
"Although he’ll always be best known for tracks like “Hustle Hard” and “Bugatti”, it’ll be his more personal work that’ll separate him from the pack."
