Tink Pays Homage to Aaliyah in “Million” Video
Tink's Aaliyah-sampled "Million" gets the video treatment as the talented artist keeps momentum rolling after being selected as a member of the 2015 XXL Freshman class. The Benny Boom-directed clip, which premiered on a big screen in New York City's Times Square last night (June 30), finds Tink at her sexiest as she croons along to the '90s-inspired instrumental. The Chicago upstart continues to impress with her versatility and knack for picking beats that match her style perfectly--which is more likely a testament to Timbaland's influence than anything. Peep the video above.
Tink's steady rise made her a strong selection for the Freshman over. As a woman, Tink realizes how important it is to represent for the female MC's and doesn't take the high-profile duty lightly. "People may not know Tink right now and understand how great I am, but in a few years, it’ll all make sense," she told XXL. "It’s almost like we’re telling the future. XXL is telling what’s going to happen. And, yeah, I’m in it. For me, it’s like a check mark. And being a female, it’s greater value for me. Just being a girl in this male-dominated industry, we already have to work 10 times harder. To be on this cover amongst all the guys, it’s like, ‘See? Me equal,’ ya know?"
Tink's album, Think Tink, is due out this month. In the meantime, check out her Freshman freestyle below:
