Rico Richie's "Poppin'" became a marginal hit and just as it looked like the MC was about to take off, he was arrested for selling weed and possession of firearms. Fortunately, the incident didn't completely derail the Miami artist's career as he dropped Realest Story Ever Told Volume 2: Menace 2 Society this week.

Executive produced by Southside and with the only feature from Young Dolph (along with a star-studded "Poppin' (Remix)") , Richie handles the leg work. Stream the project below via LiveMixtapes.

Rico Richie's arrest stemmed from this year's wild situation between Young Thug and Lil Wayne that led to YT and Birdman being named in an indcitment as co-conspirators in a plot to kill Weezy. According to a report from TMZ, the studio where Rico was recording was the same one where Thug's "Halftime" video was shot and was being investigated by cops for evidence. When the police entered the studio, they found weed and two guns on the premises. The rapper’s camp say the drugs and guns weren’t his but he didn’t want to snitch and “accepted responsibility.”

Rico’s “Poppin” has been remixed by the likes of Shy Glizzy, Lance Stephenson and Meek Mill, Chris Brown and French Montana. The original has close to two million spins on SoundCloud and is slated to appear on DJ Drama’s upcoming Quality Street Music 2 album. Hopefully this setback doesn’t stop the rapper’s rise.
