Sony Music and former Empire A&R Jonathan Master are focused on "cultivating emerging, dynamic music talent using cutting-edge approaches" with their new joint-venture label, SamePlate.

Announced on June 4, Master will run the New York-based imprint that will also include VP of Operations Alex Ciccimarro, Variety reports. The new label launches with a roster that features Ro Ransom, YGTUT, TOBi, Eza, Shari Marie and more. “We are thrilled to be partnering with all the great people at Sony Music on this new label,” said Master.

“SamePlate’s mission is to work in true partnership with artists to help them nurture their brands, not just chase records," he continued. "Artists need to be competitive and relevant all the time, not just in traditional release cycles, and we are committed to helping them share their stories with fans every day, through any medium, including music, videos, and social content.”

The label's distribution will be handled by The Orchard, although RCA records will have a chance to joint-venture with SamePlate on select artists. "I look forward to SamePlate making exciting new contributions to music culture, and creating opportunities for collaboration with RCA," said Peter Edge, Chairman & CEO, RCA Records.

SamePlate's first release, "Floetry" from Ro Ransom, is out now. The label also recently released Ransom's latest single, "Wraith." Master is also no stranger to hip-hop, having worked with the likes of DRAM, Logic, G-Eazy, Cam'ron and many more.
