Before the 2019 XXL Freshman Class will be revealed this summer, the Freshman hopefuls are here to show and prove why they deserve a spot in this year’s class. The 10th Spot voting will launch on March 25, which means hip-hop's rising newcomers are vying for a spot on the 2019 XXL Freshman cover.

Hard work has paid off for JayDaYoungan. The 20-year-old rhymer began taking rap seriously shortly before the release of his first official mixtape, 2017’s Ruffwayy, and has since pulled in millions of streams across streaming platforms and views on YouTube. A native of Bogalusa, La., the “Taking Off” rapper stayed on his grind in 2018, releasing several projects, including the Michael Jordan-themed 23 and December's Forever 23, which debuted at No. 86 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Singles like “Thot Thot” and the R&B-flavored “Interstate,” as well as his heavy Instagram following (1.1 million followers) have also helped to further establish the versatile Cinematic Music Group artist with half a million Spotify listeners tuning in on a monthly basis as an artist to pay attention to.

Now that you've heard his pitch, remember to vote for your favorite artist beginning March 25. The 2019 XXL Freshman 10th Spot will run for one week. This is where the public gets the chance to vote an artist into the XXL Freshman Class. Go here to make your vote count for your favorite artist.
