Jahlil Beats Rates Artists from XXLMag.com’s The Break

Three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), a new artist is featured on XXLMag.com’s The Break. An ideal destination for fans, artists, and industry members, The Break showcases up and coming talent, giving a brief introduction on the artist or group, and highlighting some of their standout music. Each month, industry insiders will team with XXL to rate and comment on the submissions.

Recently, Roc Nation signed hit-maker Jahlil Beats checked out the section to see what the new talent had to offer. Below, check out his comments, and see which of these artists has what it takes.

Chinx Drugz

Coke Boys have a heavy buzz in NYC and Chinx just seems to continue to deliver for that front...The slowed down flow is dope and accentuates that Coke Boys style of music. I think people should def get ready for Chinx in 2012, especially with French in his new deal...we gonna hear more about him. I love the fact that Chinx just does him and not standing in French's shadow. He goes for his.

Tito Lopez
Overall: XL
Great ear for beats and awesome deliver and flow! To be a young dude (24) he spits like a heavy weight and def stands out from a host of new comers. His music seems to be very genuine, just overall very very dope! The video with Dr. Dre is very inspirational and should tell people that this kid is a monster. Looks like he won't be an "Underdog" for long.

Mike Stud
Overall: L
This kids music definitely has a cross over feel to it. It seems like he just having fun and doing what he loves. That's whats so special about this generation, they aren't afraid to just be "them" and that's what I like about Mike. The comparisons to Mac Miller are going to come a dime a dozen, but I think Mike is different enough to carve his own lane. Also, for his song to reach No.2 on the I-Tunes Rap/Hip&Hop/R&B Charts is a pretty big deal. I look forward to hearing more from him.

Irv Da Phenom
Overall: M
You don't hear much about Kansas City rappers aside from Tech N9ne who's a legend in his own right. It was only a matter of time before a young up and comer from the KC started making noise. I really like his flow and his ability to ride a beat without losing a step. He has a Wale type of vibe as he can spit real if he wants or just play around on a track. With more original production behind him I can see him making more noise in the future.

King Louie
Overall: M
He has a pretty good ear for beats and a unique voice and flow. His beat selection def fits his rhyme style, that laid back, syrup pourin, 808 melody driven music. His sound definitely has a place in the club and the streets, he kind've reminds me of 2 Chainz but with a bit more Texas/UGK vibe. I can see him breaking out if he linked up with producers like myself or Drumma Boy to give him more of that bounce and a bit more originality behind his sound. He's a big standout.

Honors English
Overall: XL
Beats by Needlz?? He must be doing something right! This dudes music speaks from the heart and he's def not afraid to be himself! Production from Needlz only makes things better, plus he has Karina Pasian on a track, can't lose with that. I can see him possibly crossing over via the B.O.B. route making fun records, but at the same time staying true to his original demographic by sprinkling the album with jewels like "Second Chances". I will say this once, look out for this guy in 2012!

Nyemiah Supreme
Overall: S
I love Shatek's production style and it seems to fit her very well, but if she wants to stand out amongst the Nicki's of the world she should definitely continue to work on her delivery, voice and flow as well as image. There's nothing really unique about her that hasn't been seen before, and she didn't immediately give me that "WoW" factor, and unfortunately that's really what female MC's need to make it in this game.She's one up by shooting quality videos though. Her most stand out joint is "Real Talk 101". Keep up the good work and pay special attention to branding and marketing.
