Today, Sept. 23, marks the birthday of Cleveland rapper and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony member, Layzie Bone, who now turns 44.

Born Steven Howse, Layzie along with Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, Krayzie Bone and Flesh-n-Bone were discovered by Compton MC and Ruthless Records CEO Eazy-E in 1993 and thanks to his mentorship, were thrust into hip-hop stardom. The crew dropped their debut EP,  Creepin on ah Come-Up, under Ruthless in 1994. After Eazy's death in 1995, theydropped their most successful album to date, E. 1999 Eternal. Bone Thugs made E. 1999 Eternal a tribute to the late Eazy and the album spawned their signature hit, "Tha Crossroads."

Along with nine albums with Bone Thugs, Layzie also released his debut solo album, Thug By Nature, in 2001. Layzie is currently working on his seventh solo project, Perfect Timing.
