Donnis Preps Mixtape & EP for June 22

Donnis may not have released any new material since his critically acclaimed mixtape, 2009’s Diary of an ATL Brave, but that’s all about to change. The XXL Freshman is preparing to release a mixtape and official EP, both titled Fashionably Late, on June 22.

The EP will come out on Atlantic Records and the mixtape—which features cameos from John Legend, Estelle and GLC—will be available for free download online.

Back at the Freshman 10 for '10 photoshoot Donnis told XXLMag.com that the mixtape will find the ATLien rapping over today’s hottest beats. “Last mixtape was all original music, Needlz, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, those cats,” he said. “This time it’s me going in on other people’s beats.” [Watch below]

Donnis added that he has a handful of original songs on the tape as well. Producers Needlz, Crookers and the Outsyders, the team behind Britney Spears’ single, “Womanizer,” all contributed tracks.

In the meantime Donnis will heading on an international tour starting on May 18 in Tampa, FL, with stops in Utah, Japan, Hawaii, California and New York. —Elan Mancini
