Chuck D, KRS-ONE to Host Hall of Hip-Hop Awards

Founded in 2005, the NYC-based National Museum of Hip-Hop recently announced the beginning of it’s annual “Hall of Hip-Hop Awards,” a ceremony intended to induct legendary icons into it's Hall of Hip-Hop.

“Hip-Hop Immortal,” the launch event for this project will be hosted by Chuck D and KRS-One and will take place April 6 at M2 Ultra Lounge in New York City. The event will include a celebrity silent auction, cocktail reception, rap/break-dancing performances, DJ performances (with a special appearance by Grandmaster Flash), and other live and video presentations.

The honoree for the inaugural event has yet to be chosen as the advisory board members for the museum work toward finalizing their selection process. “We have developed an Induction Committee with enough experience to develop a system that will be world class,” stated Craig Wilson, president of the National Museum of Hip-Hop, who states that the museum and it’s hall of fame ceremonies will be “a testament to the prominence of the many who helped spawn this phenomenon but have been long since forgotten via contemporary commercial/corporate interests.” —Brooklyne Gipson
