Chance The Rapper is slated to speak at the People's Inauguration on Jan. 21, hosted by the Youth & College division of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

The goal of the gathering is to "organize and plan how to respond to new civil rights threats expected under a new administration and congress in 2017," according to the NAACP website.

“We are faced with a moral and ethical crisis during this critical time in our nation’s history after the election of Donald J. Trump," says Stephen Green, director of the NAACP Youth & College Division. “This moment calls for young leaders to gather together and develop a strategy to protect the human and civil rights of all Americans through nonviolent resistance.”

Leaders of the Youth & College division, along with members of Justice League New York and the Empowerment Movement, will team up at the rally. The People's Inauguration will take place at Howard University in Washington, D.C. at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21.

The event will re-unite allies who helped register thousand of new and young voters for the 2016 election. At the meeting, attendees will work together and come up with plans to fight for a more progressive American future and defend against civil rights threats.

The new #StayWokeAndFight initiative will "direct actions, protests and other activism to oppose threats to civil rights, education investment, criminal justice reform and other areas of concern posed by the incoming administration that takes office the day before the rally."

There will also be a People's Inaugural Ball the following day, on Jan. 20. Registration for both events is now open for individuals and groups via www.staywokeandfight.com.

In case you missed it, Chano was also recently nominated for the 2017 NAACP Image Awards alongside Kendrick Lamar and Donald Glover.
