The 2016 edition of the BET Hip Hop Awards airs next month but took place last night outside of Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Some of hip-hop's best descended upon the Peach State to attend the show.

As usual, the event was star-studded with the likes of T.I., Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Jidenna, Young Dolph, Young Thug, DJ Khaled, The-Dream, Snoop Dogg, Fat Joe, Remy Ma and 2016 XXL Freshman 21 Savage, Lil Yachty and Desiigner all hitting up the red green carpet.

Inside, Uncle Snoop took home one of the most prestigious honors, the “I Am Hip-Hop” award. Accepting his trophy humbly he encouraged young rappers to keep pushing the culture forward. “To all the young rappers in the game, a lot of people don’t understand you. Y’all are misunderstood,” he said with Kendrick Lamar watching at his side. “I was misunderstood at the beginning. So you got to keep pushing, be original and diverse. Hip-hop was created many years ago and it’s taken people so many places. You have to be who you are.”

Other people taking home awards included Fat Joe and Remy Ma scooping up Track of the Year with “All The Way Up,” Chance The Rapper scoring Best New Hip-Hop Artist and K. Dot earning Lyricist of the Year.

The show will air on BET on Oct. 4.
