2018 was a big year for YBN Cordae. He has even bigger plans for the new year. He rolls into 2019 with the new record "What's Life" in tow.

Released on Monday (Dec. 31), the new track finds the rapper contemplating the meaningfulness of existence over a mean instrumental accented with a looping sample.

"What is life without love?/What's life without dreams?/What's life without goals?/Everything ain't what it seems," he raps. "What's life without friends who remain genuine?/Don't care about the money or what type of crib you in/Who can withstand the test of time? As it's guess of mine/Here in real life homie, this is not a set design."

The video is put together with footage of studio sessions, concert outtakes and video of the rapper kicking it with the YBN crew and his family and friends.

Cordae is definitely one of the most promising young artists out. He recently hit the studio with Dr. Dre and received interest from 50 Cent.  Last month, he stopped by the  XXL office and participated in our Who Am I series, which invites artists to explore their origins.

"I started rappin', shit when I was 10 for real for real, I was just rappin' to the family and shit," the Maryland native explained. "Nas, Big L, Rakim, Jay-Z, Eminem, those was all my influences, but I didn't start recording until I was 16."
