Despite currently being behind bars and facing a potentially hefty sentence, Tay-K is still earning some major accolades. The 17-year-old rapper's hit song "The Race," is now officially a platinum record, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

The RIAA posts the smash hit under their platinum certification listings, revealing that it earned the status as of Jan. 12, 2018, moving over 1 million units since its initial release on June 30, 2017.

Since the song dropped last year, it's become a major go-to for artists in the hip-hop community to remix. Tons of big names have hopped on the signature instrumental, including the likes of Lil Yachty, YBN Nahmir, Kodak Black, Meek Mill, Lud Foe, Tyga, Rico Nasty, Moneybagg Yo and many more.

At the moment, the Texas native is locked up after being apprehended in New Jersey and charged with capital murder following an alleged robbery that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Ethan Walker. Last year, it was reported that he is facing a second murder charge due to his alleged role in a fatal shooting that left one man dead at a Chick-fil-A in San Antonio on April 23, 2017.

Although it may be a long time before he gets his hands on the actual plaque, congratulations are in order for Tay-K on his major accomplishment.
