The hip-hop world was rocked on Wednesday (Sept. 21) when news came out of Atlanta that Shawty Lo had died in a late night car accident. The D4L co-founder was 40 years old, and today, his team has released what will be his final music video, "Put Some Respek On It."

The track originally dropped in late April, so one would imagine that the video, which is directed by Pitch Perfect, was all but done, the news of his passing a catalyst for completion. The video itself tells the story of Lo gifting a red Chevy Camero to a female friend, but the car is stolen from her as she's filling it with gas. The thieves return the whip however when they realize it belongs to L-O, proving just how much respect his name has down south.

That message is fitting in light of Lo's passing, as rappers from across the map are showing their respect for the lost rapper. D4L's Fabo said that Shawty Lo was a hero of his even before they became famous. "Shawty Lo was the one that put us in the studio,” he said. “All of us were street cats from three different neighborhoods. He told us that we could be something. He built the studio and did everything. He had a vision and he believed in us."

T.I. meanwhile told XXL of his fellow Atlanta representative, "The first thing that came to mind was all the moments we had running back and forth in Club Crucial, some positive, some negative, but [also] just how incredibly passionate he was about our city and about our neighborhood. It wasn’t many of us really yelling 'Bankhead' at the time."
