Plenty in hip-hop and beyond celebrated Martin Luther King Day on Monday (Jan. 16), remembering Dr. King's words and the legacy the civil rights leader has left behind. Joey Bada$$ posted the above video to Twitter, a clip of King speaking giving way to a new Joey track that the rapper says will be out later this week, on Inauguration Day. "Woke up from a dream where Dr. King told me to do my thing. #MLKDay #LANDOFTHEFREE New song out Friday 1/20 12AM EST. See you then," he wrote.

As expected, the song is politically charged and socially minded, Joey addressing the state of his community and people. "The 300 million of us still got no focus/Sorry America, but I will not be your soldier/Obama just wasn’t enough I need some more closure/And Donald Trump is not equipped to take this country over/Let’s face facts cause you know what’s the real motives/In the land of the free, it’s for the free loaders/Leave us dead in the street they be the organ donors/They disorganized my people made us all loners/Still got the last names of our slave owners," he raps in the song's snippet.

The impending single release will cap off a week for Joey that includes a performance at the second annual Yams Day festival. The concert event will go down tomorrow (Jan. 18) with additional performances by A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, Danny Brown, Lil Uzi Vert and many more. Last week, Joey earned his first gold plaque for "Devastated," the positive momentum carrying on through the month.
