Chance The Rapper’s project Acid Rap is on a lot of people’s short list for mixtape of the year. As the newbie continues his rise, many will look back at the project that put his name out there. Producer Jake One, who created the instrumental for “Acid Rain” off the project, recently linked up with Behind The Beat to disclose how he appeared on the mixtape and the process behind his contribution. “A friend of mine told me I should check this dude out, Chance The Rapper. I saw his video, I think it was called “The Juice,” and I thought it was tight,” said the Seattle producer about his introduction to the 20-year-old rising star’s music. They later connected over the Internet. “Whenever someone is new like that and I think they are dope I’ll just follow them on Twitter. I followed him and maybe like an hour later he DM’d me like ‘Yo, we got to do something.’ So, I literally sent him five beats and that was one of the beats. I sent him the beat on a Tuesday and the song came out on a Thursday. So it happened really fast.”
