During the 2018 Emmy Awards on Monday night (Sept. 17), celebrities such as Burt Reynolds, John McCain, Aretha Franklin and more were honored during the In Memoriam segment. While it featured musicians, actors and more, one person noticeably not included in the tribute was Mac Miller and fans were outraged.

"Did they really just skip Mac miller and not give him a tribute?" asked one fan on Twitter. "Yes he was a singer and not an actor but they did a tribute to Aretha Franklin and [John] McCain who was just a politician so... what's up? #Emmys."

Although Miller was known as a rapper, the Pittsburgh MC was no stranger to television, having starred in his own MTV reality series, Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family from 2013 to 2014. The rapper had also appeared on episodes of Ridiculousness.

"I think it’s weird and sad that they didn’t mention #macmiller in that memorium . He was a singer and a performer, and definitely should’ve been included. #emmys," another fan tweeted. "Mac Miller wasn't worth mentioning? Wow. Hollywood is trash," wrote another.

In related news, Miller's ex-girlfriend, Ariana Grande, was supposed to attend the awards show but skipped the event to take some time off. "Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much needed time to heal and mend," a statement from her team read.

"She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for understanding," the statement continued.

Grande's decision to skip the show comes a few days after she shared a heartfelt message on Instagram following Miller's Sept. 7 death from an apparent overdose. "I adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will. i can't believe you aren't here anymore. i really can't wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times," she wrote.
