Since he broke through in the mid-2000s, John Legend has lent his voice to some of hip-hop's most soulful cuts. He's also carved out a decorated career of his own, moving nearly 8 million units worldwide and collecting nine Grammy awards in the process. Earlier this year, he and Common took home an Academy Award for "Glory," their contribution to the Selma soundtrack in which the latter also starred. Legend and his wife, the model and television host Chrissy Teigen, are among the most sought-after power couples in entertainment, palling around with Jay Z and Beyonce at late-night diners with trophies and jewelry in tow. But now, it looks as if the couple is going to get something they've been pursuing even more passionately: a new member of the family. Both Legend and Teigen took to Instagram yesterday (Oct. 12) to announce their pregnancy.

Among Teigen's many roles is that of food stylist on the Tyra Banks-produced FABlife, a daytime talk and variety show. On the program, Teigen has been candid about the struggles she and Legend went through in trying to conceive, a process she says has taken more than half a decade. Legend's was first exposed to a wide swath of rap fans on Slum Village's surprise 2004 hit, "Selfish," which also featured Kanye West. His debut album, that same year's Get Lifted, spawned hits in "Used To Love U," "Ordinary People," "So High" and "Number One," the latter two featuring Lauryn Hill and West, respectively.
