Happy 45th Birthday, Twista!

Twista, who was born Carl Terrell Mitchell, is best known for supplying lyrics that would even have Dr. Seuss tongue-tied. In 1992, the Chicago native once held the title of fastest rapper in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records for being able to pronounce 598 syllables in 55 seconds.

Twista, who acts as both a rapper and producer, has provided the hip-hop world with ten studio albums, including The Day After, Adrenaline Rush 2007, Dark Horse, and his most recognizable album Kamikaze. He's laced our radio and TV screens with hit singles like the Billboard chart topper "Slow Jamz" featuring Jamie Foxx and Kanye West, "So Sexy" featuring R. Kelly, "Overnight Celebrity" featuring Kanye West, "Wetter" and more. Two of those notable singles were nominated at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards in 2004. "Slow Jamz" earned the nod for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration while "Overnight Celebrity" saw the Chi-Town MC nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance.

The rapid-fire rapper is still in the game today, working with new Chicago acts like Lil Bibby and Jeremih, and most recently, Twista released his 10th studio effort, Crook Countyin July of 2017. The 13-track album is highlighted with production from the likes of Zaytoven and Zenzan Beats, and according to the Dark Horse MC himself, focuses on how he perceives the current climate of Hip-Hop in his home city.

Enjoy your day Twista!
