D.R.A.M.’s ‘Big Baby D.R.A.M.’ Album Sells 18,000 Copies First Week
The soaring success of D.R.A.M.'s "Broccoli" couldn't quite translate into album sales, as his debut Big Baby D.R.A.M. enters the Billboard Album 200 chart at No. 19 this week, selling nearly 18,000 units (17,914 to be exact). "Broccoli" meanwhile stays at No. 5 on the Hot 100 in this, its 20th week on the chart.
Lady Gaga's Joanne debuted at No. 1 on the Album 200 chart, with Drake's Views holding on at No. 5 in its 26th week of release. Just a few spots ahead of Big Baby D.R.A.M. are Travis Scott's Birds Sing McKnight (No. 16) and Rihanna's ANTI (No. 18).
As has been the case in recent years, album sales are becoming a less important metric to gauge market response. While D.R.A.M.'s debut didn't crack 20,000 units, it was streamed some 16.7 million times, a number that includes streams for his hit single "Broccoli," which has been played over 171 million times on Spotify alone. It is the top song on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart this week, and D.R.A.M. performed the single, sans Lil Yachty, on Conan last week. “Broccoli” is already the biggest song of his career, going double platinum back in September.
