It's shaping up as quite the week for Chance The Rapper. After it was announced yesterday that Chance would perform on the Dec. 12 episode of "Saturday Night Live," becoming the first independent artist to do so, news comes out that Chicago Magazine has named the young rapper as one of their Chicagoans of the Year. There were four other recipients, with Chance earning the title of Youth Whisperer for his commitment to youth in the city including his #SaveChicago initiative.

On a musical front, Chance has reemerged at the tail end of 2015 with his new single "Angels" which features such lyrics as "Clean up the streets so my daughter can have somewhere to play" and "It's too many young angels on the Southside/Got us scared to let our grandmommas outside."

Sending much applause Chance's way for his work in the city and his most recent accolade. The Dec. 12 "SNL" will be hosted by Chris Hemsworth.
