Caleborate Gets Animated in New “Soul” Video

Ahead of the release of his Real Person project, Caleborate has dropped the video for "Soul (The Love Version)."

The California rapper's latest video finds him in a plain room as animations and lyrics pop up around him. Caleborate showcases his flow and lyricism, mixing humor and authenticity.

Of the song, the 24-year-old says, "When I say 'Don't let them take your soul,' I'm talking about people trying to steal your shine. It could be anyone trying to drag you down; your parents, your co-workers, people on the train, someone having a bad day… A lot of people can throw off your vibe if they aren’t on the same wave as you. They can take your soul, your juice, your flavor, the stuff that makes you, you. You’ve got to protect that."

"Soul" serves as the single for Caleborate's upcoming project, which is due out on Oct. 6. Real Person is the follow-up to the rapper's 2016 record, 1993. The new project will feature production from Ian McKee, Lege Kale, Chonchies, Drew Banga and Willem Ardui.

In an interview with XXL for The Break, Caleborate said he would be "the next revolutionary." He added, "I say revolutionary because I’m a Gemini and I just know myself. I’m not very good at not saying what I feel. There’s shit to me that happens in the world that I feel like if you’re an artist, a celebrity or entertainer and you have that platform, there’s a lot of shit that should be talked about."
