Caleborate Tries to Level Up in “Game Over” Video

Let's face it—we're all trying to level up in this world, but for California rapper Caleborate, the highs and lows of this game called life seem to be coming too fast for him to handle. The Berkley rapper dropped the video for his song "Game Over" last week (Nov. 4), offering up a video game-style adaptation of life's minor setbacks. Directed by Adrian Per and Caleb Parker, the nearly four-minute clip shows Caleborate running down a suburb street while trying to level up. The silky smooth Cool Uncle sample from a 2015 track baring the same name brings some serenity to what could be a hectic string of events in this video. Caleb goes from running from his bill collectors to linking up with homies to getting beat up by the cops in a matter of minutes—not to mention getting yelled at by Aunt TT.

"Game Over" is off Caleborate's most recent project 1993 which dropped in late August. This is the second official video from the tape, following last week's drop of "Consequences." The proud '90s baby uses technology as a common theme throughout much of the 14-track mixtape.

“1993 is my birth year and I personally think that the stretch between ’90 and ’95 was a pretty special time to be born in because we got to experience life pre-cell phone, but we came of age when technology became an inseparable part of everyone’s everyday lives," said Caleborate when the project first dropped.
