Big K.R.I.T. made a visit to Sway in the Morning to discuss his latest album, 4Eva Is a Mighty Long Time, and like most guests who pass through the SiriusXM radio show often do, the Mississippi spitter participated in the show’s freestyle segment.

Often lauded as one of the game’s most conscious MCs, K.R.I.T. used his time on the mic to drop gems about learning, growing and earning his rightful place in the hip-hop industry, without losing his sense of self.

“I guess the hunker for fame’ll make you backflip/ so why they snickering and bickering I know my worth/ like that last peppermint in my granny’s purse,” he says. The “Ready for the Next” rhymer also keeps it 100 when discussing his come up, shouting out his day-ones and proclaiming that he’ll have a “Jack and coke” for his friends who didn’t make it this far.

No matter how introspective he gets, K.R.I.T. also makes sure to point a few choice words in the direction of those who hate on his talent.

“As far as I’m concerned, fuck these haters for life/ they the type to fuck a ho and probably pay for her twice,” he spits. “I’m the Albert Einstein of rap, genius/MC square, most MCs yeah, I guess that’s fair.”

K.R.I.T. recently announced he’ll be embarking on the “Heavy Is the Crown” tour to support his third studio album. He told XXL in a recent interview that he was focused on being vulnerable in his latest musical effort, and it’s clear that even during an on-the-spot freestyle, candidness is key.
