Aspiring rapper Kanyva, 21, from Pittsburgh, Calif., was sentenced to 50 years in prison after being found guilty of shooting music promoter Shani Renee Holloway to death. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Judge Mary Ann O’Malley concluded that the defendant, Juston Michael Potts, was, in fact, sane when he shot Holloway in the head twice on June 6, 2004. Potts had waived a jury trial and entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Police investigators believe that Potts was bitter after Holloway, who had previously agreed to help him with his career, expressed doubt about his prospects.
